New Taipei City to host international forum for women farmers
The New Taipei City Agricultural Bureau will host an online international forum titled 'From Women's Stories to an Organic Future' on September 24. The event is organized in response to the United Nations '2026 International Year of the Woman Farmer,' aiming to recognize the contributions of women to global food systems and address issues regarding their access to land, capital, technology, and decision-making.
The forum will feature four female agricultural representatives from Taiwan, Indonesia, and India. Speakers include Zhang Limei, the first female general manager of the New Taipei City Farmers' Association; Lu Yizhen from Tamsui Niupu Organic Farm; Emilia Tri Setyowati, Vice President of IFOAM Asia; and Shamika Mone, Chair of the International Organic Farmers Network (INOFO).
Topics will cover organic production, agricultural marketing, and participation in international agricultural organizations. The forum will be conducted entirely online and will provide simultaneous Chinese and English interpretation to facilitate international exchange.
