New Taipei mayoral polls show Su Chiao-hui leading Li Sichuan
Recent polling for the New Taipei mayoral election shows Democratic Progressive Party candidate Su Chiao-hui leading Kuomintang candidate Li Sichuan. According to data released by the Taipei Sinmin Association, Su holds 43.1% support compared to Li's 30.0%, a 13.1 percentage point gap. However, projections based on vote share suggest the actual margin may be as narrow as 4.1%.
Li Sichuan's campaign has strongly contested the findings, with campaign director Jiang Yi-zhen criticizing the poll's sampling methods. The campaign argues the sample is biased toward the Democratic Progressive Party and does not reflect the actual political atmosphere in New Taipei City. Additionally, Li's office condemned recent online attacks and malicious content targeting him, accusing political supporters of crossing moral boundaries.
In response to the polling, Su Chiao-hui stated that the results serve as encouragement and that her campaign will focus on positive, vision-oriented discussions regarding the city's future. She noted that her team views polls as a reference for trends rather than absolute certainties.
