New tea cafes and confectionery brands to open in Japan

New tea-focused retail establishments are scheduled to open in Japan in September 2026.

Tokyo Tea Trading will launch SHONAN TEA Luv. at the MrMax Shonan Fujisawa Shopping Center on September 4, 2026. Located next to Starbucks, the cafe aims to offer a casual tea experience with a menu featuring ‘Luv Tea’—specialty drinks combining matcha, hojicha, chai, or peach Earl Grey with tea jelly, milk, or cream. The cafe will also serve food items such as hot dogs and taco rice. To celebrate the opening, all drinks will be half-price for the first three days.

Separately, BAKE INC.’s tea confectionery brand, TeaDrop., will open its second location at Lumine Omiya in late September 2026. The brand focuses on capturing the aroma and flavor of tea in sweets, specifically its signature ‘Tea Drop Cake.’ The Omiya location will feature store-exclusive flavors, including Earl Grey with blueberry and Earl Grey with orange. A promotional campaign will offer original mugs to the first 150 customers who spend over 3,240 yen.
