New York 21st Congressional District race tightens

In New York’s 21st Congressional District, a traditionally Republican stronghold, the race to replace Representative Elise Stefanik has become highly competitive. Democrat Blake Gendebien, a second-generation dairy farmer running as a conservative Democrat, holds a narrow lead in a recent Siena University poll. This shift is notable in a district where registered Republicans outnumber Democrats by 80,000.

Republican candidate Anthony Constantino has utilized a self-funded $16 million campaign characterized by high-profile showmanship, including a tribute rap album and a seven-foot bronze statue of Donald Trump. The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee has responded by adding the district to its ‘Red to Blue’ program, providing operational and financial support to Gendebien.

Gendebien has focused his platform on reducing fuel and fertilizer costs. Meanwhile, the campaign has been marked by tension, with Gendebien alleging that Constantino has harassed him by flying drones over his farm.
