New York and New Jersey lead U.S. food craving trends

A new survey from Trimi Health, which analyzed food-related search data and surveyed over 1,000 Americans, reveals significant trends in food cravings and consumer behavior across the United States.

New York residents show a particularly high interest in food, ranking first in the country for overall food craving searches. Specifically, New Yorkers search for bagels at a rate 152 percent higher than the national average. In New Jersey, bagels also emerged as a primary craving.

Nationally, pizza was identified as the food Americans find hardest to resist, cited by 29 percent of respondents, followed by potato chips, chocolate, and ice cream. The study also noted that stress and boredom are major drivers of cravings, with 24 percent and 22 percent of Americans citing those factors, respectively.

Consumer dedication to specific foods is high; over 70 percent of Americans have ordered takeout even when they had food at home, and 27 percent have traveled to another city or state to satisfy a specific craving.
