New York Attorney General issues voter protection warning
New York Attorney General Letitia James has issued a warning to voters regarding protections against electoral intimidation. State and federal laws restrict the presence of armed military and federal agents, including officials from Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), Customs and Border Protection (CBP), and the FBI, at polling locations.
James emphasized that no eligible voter should stay home due to fears of arrest or threats related to their immigration status. The warning comes as early voting continues across the state ahead of the November 3, 2026, election. The Attorney General’s Office has established an election protection hotline to report irregularities, threats, or improper requests for identification.
