New York City adopts FY2027 budget boosting housing vouchers and school funding

The New York City fiscal year 2027 budget includes a $175 million infusion for a new housing voucher program administered by the Department of Housing Preservation and Development, while the Department of Buildings' appropriation rises to $233 million, up $30 million. Overall, the Department of Housing Preservation and Development receives $1.8 billion, a modest decline from the prior year, and the CityFHEPS voucher program continues under the Department of Social Services, which sees a $5.7 billion allocation.
