New York City and Hong Kong announce major Halloween festivities

New York City has launched its fifth annual ‘Trick-or-Streets’ Halloween program. Organized by the Department of Transportation in collaboration with the NYPD and other city agencies, the initiative transforms various streets, plazas, and corridors into car-free themed zones throughout October. Major events are scheduled across the five boroughs, including Brooklyn on October 22, Staten Island on October 24, Queens on October 25, Manhattan on October 28, and the Bronx on Halloween Day, October 31.

In addition to large-scale community events, the city is partnering with non-profit Street Lab and local public schools to host themed games and activities for children. The Municipal Art Society is also providing guided walking tours to explore the history and architecture of the participating neighborhoods.

Meanwhile, the Hong Kong Tourism Board has expanded its ‘Hong Kong Halloween Month’ festivities. The program now includes six days of free night experiences on sightseeing buses and festive trams, spanning October 17-18, 24-25, and 30-31. To qualify for free rides, participants must wear Halloween costumes and meet minimum spending requirements at designated partner merchants in areas such as Central, Mong Kok, Kai Tak, and Tsim Sha Tsui.
