New York City Hall wedding takes place amid massive Knicks parade
Jillian Solomon, 27, and Andrew Solomon, 33, were married at New York City Hall on Thursday while the Knicks’ historic ticker‑tape parade rolled through lower Manhattan. The couple, who booked the ceremony months before the Knicks’ championship run, had hoped for a "very low‑key" event but were surrounded by an estimated two million fans celebrating the team's title.
Because street congestion prevented a car service, the Solomons rode the subway in their gown and tuxedo to the ceremony. NYPD officers later allowed them onto the parade route, where fans cleared space for photos and blue‑orange confetti rained down on the newlyweds. Photographer Gianna Carly noted the crowd’s enthusiastic support, and Mayor Mamdani delivered remarks nearby as other couples also wed at City Hall during the festivities.
