New York City Mayor forms Business Advisory Council

New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani has established a Business Advisory Council composed of 15 executives from various sectors, including finance, technology, healthcare, sports, and real estate. The group will meet quarterly with the mayor and Deputy Mayor for Economic Justice Julie Su to provide strategic guidance on economic development policy.

Key members of the council include Chobani CEO Hamdi Ulukaya, New York Liberty CEO Keia Clarke, Etsy CEO Kruti Patel Goyal, and Pat Wang of Healthfirst. The real estate sector is also represented by RXR chairman and CEO Scott Rechler, Community Preservation Corporation CEO Rafael Cestero, and Steiner Studios chairman Doug Steiner. These real estate leaders intend to advise on increasing housing supply by addressing construction costs and regulatory reforms, such as zoning and building codes.

The formation of this council follows a period of tension between the Mamdani administration and several high-profile billionaires regarding tax policies and urban redevelopment.
