New York domestic violence suspect captured in Maryland

Selvin Martinez Quim, 34, has been arrested in Maryland following a multi-state investigation into a domestic violence incident in New York. The arrest was made possible through cooperation between the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office, the Montgomery County Police Department, the Maryland Coordination and Analysis Center, and the United States Marshals Service.

The investigation began on June 14 in the Town of Southeast, New York, after deputies responded to a domestic violence report. During the initial attempt to take Martinez Quim into custody, he allegedly jumped from a window and fled into a wooded area, evading capture for several weeks. Authorities eventually tracked him to Montgomery County, Maryland, where he was apprehended on July 16.

Martinez Quim was transported back to Putnam County and faces charges including second-degree strangulation, a Class D felony, as well as criminal obstruction of breathing or blood circulation and third-degree assault. He was arraigned in the Town of Southeast Court, where bail was set at $10,000 cash or $20,000 bond, and a stay-away order of protection was issued for the victim.
