New York driver cited for using fake vehicle inspection sticker

A driver in Upstate New York was caught using a fraudulent vehicle inspection sticker during a traffic stop on Interstate 81 in the Town of Homer.

New York State Police reported that a trooper pulled over a 2013 Subaru Legacy for traffic violations on August 6. Upon checking Department of Motor Vehicles records, the trooper discovered the vehicle's inspection had expired in 2024, despite a sticker being displayed on the windshield.

The driver, identified as 32-year-old Otis Lavon Tillie of Syracuse, was found to be operating with a revoked driver's license. Tillie was issued misdemeanor tickets for Forged Inspection Certificate and Aggravated Unlicensed Operation in the 2nd Degree. The vehicle was impounded following the encounter.
