New York expands World Cup 2026 access with free broadcasts and vibrant fan zones

Mayor Zohran Mamdani announced that New York will stream FIFA World Cup 2026 matches for free on hundreds of LinkNYC kiosks across the city. The mayor secured 1,000 tickets priced at $50 each for New York residents, adding complimentary bus transport, to counter soaring ticket prices that approach $1,000 for games in the region. Mamdani said the initiative aims to keep the sport accessible to ordinary supporters.

At the same time, Moroccan supporters turned Times Square into a large fan zone for the Lions of the Atlas. Backed by the Moroccan National Tourist Office, the activation featured Red‑and‑white displays, live music, dance, taxi branding across Manhattan, Brooklyn and Queens, and massive billboards, all designed to promote Morocco’s tourism brand and the nation’s football profile during the tournament.
