New York fall foliage begins to emerge in Adirondacks and Hudson Valley
The first fall foliage reports for the New York season indicate that autumn colors are beginning to emerge across various regions. In the Adirondacks, some areas are seeing the most significant early changes, with leaf color shifts reported between 20% and 35% in locations such as Old Forge and Tupper Lake.
In Central New York, Utica is reporting less than 20% color change, while Cazenovia and Syracuse show minimal shifts of 5% or less. In the Hudson Valley, changes remain more subtle; Poughkeepsie shows approximately 5% change, while Ulster County reports over 10% change in New Paltz, featuring yellow and orange hues. Hudson in Columbia County is also seeing approximately 10% change.
Peak foliage is expected to progress through the Adirondacks, the Catskills, and Central New York in the coming weeks.
