New York father seeks $400M after four children's murder-suicide
Brady Harmon has filed a $400 million legal notice against New York authorities, including the City of Mechanicville, Saratoga County, and local school districts, following the deaths of his four children. The children—Harper, 13; Hudson, 11; and 10-year-old twins Gavin and Gracelynn—died in what investigators described as a planned murder-suicide on June 10.
Toxicology reports revealed that the children were killed using a combination of diphenhydramine, an active ingredient in allergy medications, and mitragynine, a compound found in kratom. Authorities identified the perpetrators as the children's mother, 44-year-old Sarah Myers, and her mother, 64-year-old Amy Steadman, both of whom died at the scene.
Harmon's legal filing alleges that local authorities and housing officials failed to act despite years of reported warning signs regarding the mistreatment and medical mishandling of the children. Harmon had been preparing to reunite with his children for the summer following a long-standing custody dispute.
