New York Giants bolster running game following Najee Harris release

The New York Giants secured a 27-21 overtime victory against the Houston Texans, driven by a dominant rushing performance. Following a challenge from head coach John Harbaugh for his running backs to improve, the team produced 188 rushing yards on 34 carries. Cam Skattebo led the effort with a career-best 124 yards, while Devin Singletary contributed a 30-yard game-winning run in overtime. All four of the Giants' touchdowns during the contest were scored on the ground.

In his starting debut, quarterback J.J. McCarthy completed 20 of 28 passes for 252 yards with no interceptions. Defensively, cornerback Deonte Banks limited Texans receiver Nico Collins to a single catch for four yards.

In roster news, the Giants have released veteran running back Najee Harris. This move comes amid speculation that the team may seek a trade for Indianapolis Colts star running back Jonathan Taylor, particularly following the firing of Colts general manager Chris Ballard.
