New York Giants Coach Harbaugh Tackles Triple Achilles Injuries Before Training Camp

Three New York Giants players – rookie cornerback Thaddeus Dixon, wide receiver/special‑teams contributor Gunner Olszewski and defensive lineman Roy Robertson Harris – suffered Achilles‑tendon tears during the off‑season. Harris’ injury is especially significant because the Giants had recently traded star defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence, leaving the interior defense shorthanded.

Head coach John Harbaugh, a former Baltimore Ravens assistant with a reputation for injury prevention, said the practice schedule will remain unchanged but the team is adding new fitness‑testing, strength‑training and body‑movement equipment to monitor players in real time and catch potential problems early. He hopes the technology will help prevent further severe injuries as the Giants begin a 90‑man training camp at The Greenbrier in West Virginia.

The roster includes quarterbacks Jaxson Dart, Jameis Winston and Brandon Allen, running backs Cam Skattebo, Tyrone Tracy Jr., Devin Singletary and others, along with fullback Patrick Ricard. The camp will determine final roster spots and address other health concerns such as Cam Skattebo’s ankle status.
