Cowboys and Giants prepare for Week 1 Sunday Night Football matchup

NFL Sunday Night Football NFC East MetLife Stadium injury report

The Dallas Cowboys and New York Giants are set to face each other in the 2026 NFL season opener on Sunday Night Football at MetLife Stadium. The matchup features several key storylines, including the coaching debut of John Harbaugh for the Giants and significant injury concerns for both rosters.

Giants wide receiver Malik Nabers is listed as questionable as he weighs whether to play following a previous ACL and meniscus injury. Nabers stated, “I can’t put my career at risk,” noting that the decision to participate rests with him despite being medically cleared.

On the Cowboys side, running back Malik Davis has been ruled out after suffering a “pretty serious” hip injury during practice. Davis is expected to undergo surgery and be placed on injured reserve. Additionally, the Cowboys will be without offensive lineman Tyler Smith due to a thumb injury.

Betting markets currently favor the Cowboys, with the spread moving toward Dallas. The game marks a significant test for the revamped Cowboys defense under coordinator Christian Parker and the new-look Giants squad.
