New York Giants promote linebacker Malik Harrison to active roster

The New York Giants have promoted linebacker Malik Harrison from the practice squad to the team’s 53-man active roster. The move follows Harrison’s performance in the first five games of the season, where he served as a game-day elevation for three consecutive games.

Harrison has become a key contributor on special teams, notably recovering a fumble on an opening kickoff during a 12-7 victory against Tennessee. The promotion was necessitated by roster rules, as Harrison had exhausted the three permitted standard practice-squad elevations.

A former third-round pick by the Baltimore Ravens, Harrison has previous experience as a starter for both the Ravens and the Pittsburgh Steelers. His addition provides the Giants with increased depth at linebacker behind Tremaine Edmunds and Arvell Reese.
