New York Giants release former first-round pick Evan Neal
The New York Giants have released offensive lineman Evan Neal, the former seventh overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft. Neal, a 6-foot-7, 340-pound former All-American at Alabama, failed to secure a spot on the team’s initial 53-man roster after competing for a reserve role during training camp.
Neal’s tenure with the Giants included 29 regular-season appearances and 27 starts, primarily at right tackle. After moving to right guard during the 2025 offseason, he did not play any snaps during the 2025 regular season due to a hamstring injury that landed him on injured reserve in November. Despite re-signing with the team in March to attempt a career revival, he was unable to displace newer depth, such as 2026 first-round pick Francis Mauigoa.
