New York Giants restructure roster and cap with Winston extension

The New York Giants have restructured their roster and salary cap through several key personnel moves. Quarterback Jameis Winston has signed a two-year extension through 2028, serving as the designated No. 2 behind Jaxson Dart. This extension is expected to provide $1.4 million in cap space.

Additionally, the team extended guard Jon Runyan with a two-year, $22 million deal, which significantly lowered his 2026 cap figure. To further manage finances, the Giants released receiver Darius Slayton in a post-June 1 transaction, saving over $3 million this year despite a $12.999 million dead money charge.

Following these adjustments, the Giants are projected to have $8.205 million in cap space for 2026, ranking 21st in the league. The team's total dead money has risen to $41.643 million, placing them 16th in the league.
