New York Giants Running Backs Skattebo and Gray Face 2026 Roster Decisions

Running back Cam Skattebo, the Giants’ 2025 rookie who suffered a right‑ankle dislocation in October 2025, says the injury will not change his aggressive playing style. He is targeting a return for Week 1 of the 2026 season and will need to clear training‑camp evaluations before the season opener against the Dallas Cowboys.

The Giants also have fifth‑round pick Eric Gray competing for a roster spot. Gray saw limited action in 2025, appearing in four games without any offensive carries, and now carries a modest cap figure that makes him a possible cut candidate. He will battle against players such as Devin Singletary, Dante Miller and undrafted free agent Damon Bankston for the remaining backfield positions, while Tyrone Tracy and the now‑healthy Skattebo are expected to split the bulk of the carries.

The running‑back room’s composition will be finalized during the summer and preseason, with the team weighing performance, special‑teams contributions and salary‑cap implications.
