New York Giants sign Jihad Ward to bolster pass rush

The New York Giants are signing defensive lineman Jihad Ward to their 53-man roster to bolster their pass rush following a season-ending knee injury to All-Pro outside linebacker Brian Burns. Ward, a 10-year veteran, is being acquired from the Minnesota Vikings' practice squad.

Ward previously played for the Giants during the 2022 and 2023 seasons, recording eight sacks during that tenure, including a career-high five sacks in 2023. To accommodate Ward on the roster, the Giants have released defensive tackle Josh Tupou.

In related roster moves, the Giants have also re-signed quarterback Jake Haener to the practice squad after he cleared waivers.
