The New York Giants have signed veteran quarterback Jake Haener to bolster their roster following the sudden retirement of cornerback Sam Webb. Webb retired just one day after appearing in a preseason game against the Minnesota Vikings.

Haener, 27, joins a quarterback room that includes starter Jaxson Dart, Jameis Winston, and Brandon Allen. Haener previously played for the New Orleans Saints and was most recently with the Kansas City Chiefs.

In addition to the signing, the Giants hosted free agent running back Najee Harris for a workout. Harris, a former Pro Bowl selection with the Pittsburgh Steelers, is working toward full fitness following a season-ending Achilles injury last season.
