New York Giants face early-season challenges as Malik Nabers' recovery remains uncertain

Wide receiver Malik Nabers, who suffered a torn ACL and a partial lateral meniscus tear in September 2025, has undergone multiple surgeries and a scar‑tissue cleanup. Team officials say his return could be delayed, with the possibility of missing the first four to five games of the 2026 season. Head coach John Harbaugh described the rehab as “ongoing,” while general manager Joe Schoen expressed cautious optimism about a Week 1 clearance, noting that the recovery “takes time.”

If Nabers is unavailable, the Giants will rely on recent additions such as Darnell Mooney, Isaiah Likely, Calvin Austin III and rookie Malachi Fields, alongside returning depth players Darius Slayton and Jalin Hyatt. The uncertainty around their top receiving target adds a potential early‑season hurdle for New York’s passing attack.

In addition to the offensive concerns, the Giants’ defensive outlook is under scrutiny as they head into training camp.
