New York Gov. Hochul Names Route 376 Section and Rensselaer Bridge for Local Heroes

The New York State Legislature, with Governor Kathy Hochul’s signature, renamed a portion of Route 376 in East Fishkill as the East Fishkill Veterans Highway. The designation, signed on July 31, was sponsored by Assemblyman Anil Beephan and Senator Rob Rolison and places the new name opposite the town’s Veterans Park as a permanent tribute to local service members.

In a separate action, Governor Hochul also approved legislation dedicating the State Route 2 bridge over Route 22 in the Town of Petersburgh, Rensselaer County, to the late Robert Bornt. Bornt, a 22‑year veteran of the New York State Department of Transportation, died after being struck by a vehicle in a work‑zone crash on May 29, 2025. The bridge dedication will be marked by a ceremony, highlighting the risks faced by highway maintenance workers and the state’s ongoing work‑zone safety initiatives.
