New York Islanders defeat Vancouver Canucks 3-2
The New York Islanders defeated the Vancouver Canucks 3-2 at UBS Arena on Tuesday night. Kyle Palmieri led the Islanders with two goals, including the decisive third goal in the third period. Matias Maccelli also scored his first goal for the Islanders during the first period to help establish an early lead.
The Canucks responded in the second period with goals from Max Sasson and Brock Boeser, the latter of whom tied the game on a power play. Boeser’s goal marked his 80th career power-play tally, moving him into fifth place on the Canucks’ all-time list. Despite the comeback attempt, the Islanders secured the win with Ilya Sorokin making 23 saves in goal. The loss marks the fifth consecutive defeat for the Canucks.
