New York Jets approach roster cuts following preseason

The New York Jets are approaching the deadline to trim their roster from 90 players to 53. Defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn expressed satisfaction with the team's defensive effort following a 17-0 preseason victory over the Steelers, though he noted that defensive coverage still requires improvement through training camp.

On the offensive side, the quarterback position is stabilizing with Geno Smith established as the starter. The team is currently evaluating rookie Cade Klubnik for the backup role after his preseason performance, which included 197 passing yards and no touchdowns across three games. General manager Darren Mougey and Glenn will finalize the roster decisions ahead of the upcoming Sunday deadline.
