New York Giants Make Roster Cuts Ahead of 2026 Training Camp

The New York Giants waived linebacker Cam Jones and defensive tackle C.J. Ravenell as they entered training camp. Jones, a former Super Bowl LVIII champion with the Kansas City Chiefs, had a one‑year, $1.3 million contract that leaves the team with $225,000 in guaranteed dead money. Ravenell, claimed from Tennessee earlier this year, had appeared in 14 games for the Titans before being released.

The moves reduce the Giants’ defensive depth, leaving them short on interior linemen while they also placed Roy Robertson‑Harris and Sam Roberts on the PUP list due to injuries. Coach John Harbaugh acknowledged the roster tightening as part of the preseason evaluation process.

Former Giants quarterback Phil Simms expressed optimism about the team’s outlook, saying the roster changes and coaching under Harbaugh give the Giants a realistic chance to reach the playoffs in the 2026 season.
