New York Jets hold workouts for kickers including Justin Tucker
The New York Jets are continuing their search for a reliable kicker ahead of their Week 1 opener against the Tennessee Titans. The team recently held workouts for five-time All-Pro Justin Tucker, as well as Michael Badgley and Joshua Karty.
Tucker, who spent his 13-year career with the Baltimore Ravens, is seeking a new team following a 10-game NFL suspension and his release from Baltimore in May 2025. The search follows a period of instability at the position for the Jets, which included the departure of Nick Folk in free agency and the recent release of Jason Sanders. Sanders, who had initially won the starting job, was moved to the practice squad after missing kicks in the preseason finale against the Giants.
Special teams coordinator Chris Banjo stated the organization is looking for ‘confidence and consistency’ as the competition between players like Blake Grupe and Sanders continues. The final decision regarding the starting kicker is expected to be determined by practice squad elevations.
