New York Jets make five roster moves to address injury depth
The New York Jets have announced several roster changes to address depth issues following injuries sustained during their Week 1 victory against the Tennessee Titans. The team is signing wide receivers Sterling Shepard and Tyler Johnson to the practice squad.
Tyler Johnson, a former Super Bowl champion with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, returns to the Jets after stints with the Houston Texans, Los Angeles Rams, and Dallas Cowboys. The move follows an ankle injury to Omar Cooper Jr., which left the team with only four healthy wide receivers.
Additionally, the Jets are promoting cornerback Jordan Clark from the practice squad to the 53-man active roster to serve as a backup nickel and safety. To facilitate these moves, the team is releasing linebacker Jaden Keller and offensive lineman Xavier Newman from the practice squad.
