New York Jets overhaul roster ahead of 2026 training camp

The New York Jets entered the 2026 training camp after a sweeping roster overhaul orchestrated by head coach Aaron Glenn and general manager Darren Mougey. The team added edge rusher David Bailey, the No. 2 overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, to bolster a defense that struggled in the 2025 season. Bailey is expected to partner with veteran Will McDonald, though both face questions about run defense, prompting Glenn to consider using them in separate situations early in the season.

Beyond the pass rush, the Jets face numerous position battles as veterans report. Safety anchor Minkah Fitzpatrick will be joined by a contest between Andre Cisco, Dane Belton and second‑year safety Malachi Moore for the opposite safety spot. In the nickel cornerback area, Jarvis Brownlee Jr. and D'Angelo Ponds will vie for the starting role, each offering a different skill set. These competitions are intended to identify the most effective players for Glenn’s physical scheme and to improve upon the franchise’s three‑win performance from the previous year.
