New York Jets defeat Cleveland Browns 17-12 in Week 5

The New York Jets secured a 17-12 victory over the Cleveland Browns at MetLife Stadium on Sunday, snapping a three-game losing streak. In a rain-soaked contest, the Jets' defense and special teams played decisive roles.

Jets quarterback Geno Smith completed 17 of 30 passes for 182 yards and one touchdown. Running back Braelon Allen led the offense with a career-high 116 rushing yards, including a 22-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter. The winning drive followed a botched punt snap by the Browns' Corey Bojorquez, which was recovered by New York's Trevin Wallace.

The Jets' defense recorded eight sacks against Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson, including three by rookie David Bailey. The Browns' offense struggled under heavy pressure, with Watson completing 15 of 33 passes for 155 yards and one touchdown.

The game was marked by several controversial moments. Jets head coach Aaron Glenn expressed significant frustration with officiating during halftime, citing uncalled fouls. Additionally, a hit by Jets safety Minkah Fitzpatrick on Browns rookie wide receiver KC Concepcion resulted in a personal foul and forced Concepcion to leave the game.
