New York Jets sign Jason Sanders, waive Blake Grupe
The New York Jets have officially addressed their kicking position by signing Jason Sanders to the active roster and waiving Blake Grupe. Sanders, who has been elevated from the practice squad for the first three weeks of the season, has successfully converted five of six field goal attempts, including a 42-yard kick against the Detroit Lions.
Under NFL rules, Sanders had exhausted his maximum allotment of three practice squad elevations, necessitating a permanent roster move. Grupe, who joined the team in August, was released following the decision.
In additional roster adjustments, the Jets waived cornerback Jordan Clark and signed offensive linemen Nick Dawkins and Jimmy Morrissey to the practice squad to provide depth following a knee injury to starting left guard Dylan Parham.
