New York Jewish voters shifting toward Republicans
Democratic margins among Jewish voters in New York have declined significantly since 2022, according to data from CNN analyst Harry Enten. Surveys indicate that the Democratic lead with this voting bloc has fallen by more than 35 points.
In the gubernatorial race, Governor Kathy Hochul’s margin among Jewish voters has dropped to 13 points, a sharp decrease from the 51-point advantage she held in 2022 and the 55-point edge held by Andrew Cuomo in 2018. A September Siena University poll showed Republican Bruce Blakeman leading Hochul 46% to 43% among Jewish voters, despite Hochul maintaining a nine-point lead statewide.
The shift is also evident in U.S. House generic ballot polling, where the Democratic lead among Jewish voters narrowed from 49 points in 2022 to 13 points this year. Analysts suggest that the positions of figures such as Democratic Socialist Mayor Zohran Mamdani regarding Israel may contribute to this trend, noting his net favorability among Jewish voters stands at minus 23.
