New York landlord reports animal abuse and tenant violence

A New York property owner, Dr. Kennisha Gilbert, reported a severe case of animal neglect and cruelty within her tenant's apartment. After months of reporting excessive barking, ammonia odors, and urine leaking through ceilings, authorities and the ASPCA intervened.

Upon investigation, officials discovered at least 20 dogs and puppies being kept in deplorable conditions. The animals were reportedly being forced to breed in an overcrowded environment, with some kept in crates and others chained to the floor. Howard Lawrence, Vice President of ASPCA Humane Law Enforcement, stated that the animals were in terrible conditions and required immediate rescue.

The incident led to the arrest of Ravon Service and Tafaniel Michaud for animal torture and neglect. The situation escalated into physical violence when Service, reportedly angry over the removal of the dogs, allegedly attacked Gilbert and her husband with a windshield wiper, causing a head injury to Gilbert.
