New York Liberty beat Minnesota Lynx, stopping Cheryl Reeve's win record bid
Breanna Stewart scored 36 points as the New York Liberty defeated the Minnesota Lynx 99‑86, ending the Lynx's bid to see coach Cheryl Reeve become the WNBA's all‑time regular‑season wins leader. Reeve remains tied with Mike Thibault at 379 victories and will have another chance on Monday against Chicago.
Liberty (13‑8) built a lead with strong contributions from Jonquel Jones, who added 14 points and 15 rebounds, and Sabrina Ionescu’s 17 points. The Lynx (15‑5) were hampered by the absence of star Napheesa Collier and other injuries. New York played without Satou Sabally, who was in concussion protocol, and NBA Hall of Famer Yao Ming attended the game.
The victory follows the Liberty’s recent Commissioner's Cup win and sets up their next matchup against Dallas.
