New York Liberty clinch sixth consecutive WNBA playoff spot

The New York Liberty have officially secured a spot in the 2026 WNBA playoffs, marking their sixth consecutive postseason appearance. The berth was confirmed following a loss by the Portland Fire to the Washington Mystics.

Despite a season marked by inconsistency, including an eight-game winning streak and an eight-loss stretch, the Liberty currently hold the No. 6 seed with a 23-15 record. The team’s core remains intact with star players Breanna Stewart, Jonquel Jones, and Sabrina Ionescu, though the roster has dealt with various injuries throughout the campaign.

Under head coach Chris DeMarco, the team has recently shown signs of improvement, winning seven of their last nine games.
