New York Liberty secure consecutive WNBA wins
The New York Liberty secured two consecutive victories to improve their season record to 22-14. In a high-tension matchup against the Los Angeles Sparks, the Liberty avoided a historic collapse by holding on for an 85-81 win. Despite holding a 28-point lead early in the fourth quarter, New York surrendered 21 consecutive points to the Sparks. Sabrina Ionescu led the Liberty with 20 points, including crucial free throws in the final seconds to seal the win. The Sparks were led by Rae Burrell, who scored a career-high 28 points.
Following the Sparks game, the Liberty faced the Connecticut Sun without Ionescu, who was sidelined with a left ankle injury. Jonquel Jones anchored the offense with 23 points, while Marine Johannes provided a critical fourth-quarter spark to help New York secure an 82-75 victory. The win continues a strong stretch for the Liberty, who have won nine of their last 11 games.
