Atlanta Dream clinch No. 4 WNBA playoff seed after defeating New York Liberty
The Atlanta Dream secured the No. 4 seed and home-court advantage for the first round of the WNBA playoffs following an 83-65 victory over the New York Liberty. The win allows Atlanta to finish the regular season with a 30-14 record.
The Liberty, who will enter the playoffs as the eighth seed, face the Minnesota Lynx in the opening round. The game raised significant injury concerns for New York; Breanna Stewart was sidelined with left knee soreness, and Jonquel Jones exited the game with a left ankle injury after stepping on a fan's foot.
During the matchup, Atlanta's Angel Reese was involved in a flagrant foul incident where Sabrina Ionescu struck her in the face. While Reese did not play in the second half, she previously avoided a suspension after the WNBA rescinded a technical foul that would have triggered a one-game ban. Reese has also publicly advocated for an Atlanta player to receive the Defensive Player of the Year award.
