New York library cards offer free access to 70+ cultural sites
New York State residents can access free admission to more than 70 museums, gardens, and cultural sites through the Culture Pass program. This initiative is facilitated by the New York Public Library, Brooklyn Public Library, and Queens Public Library.
To participate, residents must obtain a free library card from one of these systems. While applications can begin online, users must visit a physical branch in person with a valid ID to collect the card. Once active, cardholders can use the Culture Pass reservation system to book visits.
Reservations must be made in advance, and passes typically cover two to four people depending on the specific venue. Popular locations, such as the American Museum of Natural History, the Brooklyn Museum, and the Whitney Museum of American Art, are included in the program.
