New York man arrested in alleged shipping fraud scheme

Julio Fermín Germosén, a 48-year-old Bronx resident, was arrested in connection with an alleged fraud scheme involving Rockland Shipping. The company reportedly charged approximately $60 to transport boxes from Haverstraw, New York, to the Dominican Republic and other Latin American countries.

The investigation began in June after more than two dozen customers reported missing, damaged, or incomplete shipments. Victims alleged that after paying for services, they were unable to reach Germosén regarding the whereabouts of their belongings.

Following a coordinated effort between the Haverstraw Police and the New York Police Department, Germosén was detained on August 14. He faces a charge of first-degree scheme to defraud, a charge applicable when ten or more victims are involved. He was released on a summons and is scheduled to appear in Haverstraw Justice Court.
