New York man charged with auto death after fatal New Jersey collision
Estuardo G. Rodriguez, 31, faces auto death charges following a fatal incident in Paramus, New Jersey. Prosecutors allege that Rodriguez, who was driving with a suspended license and under the influence of alcohol, struck Krisiann Reyes Rivera, 31, with his vehicle.
The incident began on Route 17 following a minor fender-bender between Rodriguez’s 2024 Acura, which was towing a U-Haul trailer, and Rivera’s car. Authorities stated that after the collision, Rivera approached Rodriguez’s vehicle and struck one of the windows. As she returned to her car, Rodriguez allegedly accelerated, striking Rivera and running her over with the rear tires of the trailer.
Witnesses pursued Rodriguez as he attempted to flee the scene, eventually blocking his vehicle in traffic approximately half a mile away until police arrived. Rivera, a resident of the Bronx, was transported to Hackensack University Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead. Rodriguez has been booked into the Bergen County Jail.
