New York Mets option Jefry Yan to Triple-A Syracuse

The New York Mets have optioned left-handed pitcher Jefry Yan to Triple-A Syracuse to address control issues. Yan, a 30-year-old known for his energetic on-field celebrations, struggled with a 5.68 ERA and 11 walks in 12.2 innings of Major League action.

Interim manager Andy Green noted the difficulty of succeeding with a high walk rate, citing Yan's 20 percent walk rate as a primary factor for the move. The team aims to have Yan refine his command and strike-throwing ability in the minor leagues.

To fill the roster spot, the Mets recalled Tobias Myers from Syracuse. Myers, who previously showed strong performance earlier in the season, is expected to serve in a relief role of two to three innings.
