New York Mets reliever Devin Williams placed on 15-day injured list

The New York Mets have placed reliever Devin Williams on the 15-day injured list due to a right shoulder strain. The move is retroactive to August 8.

Interim manager Andy Green noted that Williams had been managing shoulder fatigue for some time, though the player had expressed confidence in working through it. Williams, a two-time All-Star, has recorded 16 saves this season but has struggled with consistency, posting a 4.66 ERA and a 1.66 WHIP over 38.2 innings.

To address the vacancy in the bullpen, the Mets have recalled right-hander Jonathan Pintaro from Triple-A Syracuse. The team is expected to utilize a closer-by-committee approach during Williams' absence.
