New York Mets retire Carlos Beltrán's No. 15 amid front office restructuring plans
The New York Mets recently honored former center fielder Carlos Beltrán at Citi Field, officially retiring his No. 15 jersey and inducting him into the Mets Hall of Fame. Beltrán, who played for the franchise from 2005 to 2011, spoke of his time in Queens as the best years of his baseball career. The ceremony took place during a 10-3 victory over the Philadelphia Phillies.
Separately, Mets owner Steve Cohen has faced criticism from fans regarding his strategy for improving the team following consecutive years of failing to reach the postseason. Speaking on the SNY Network, Cohen indicated plans to add more ‘voices’ to the front office to support President of Baseball Operations David Stearns, though he noted it does not necessarily require hiring a new general manager.
