New York Mets send pitcher Xzavion Curry to Florida Complex League
The New York Mets have sent right-handed pitcher Xzavion Curry outright to their Florida Complex League affiliate. The move follows Curry being designated for assignment earlier in the week.
The roster change occurred after the Mets claimed left-handed pitcher Philip Abner off waivers from the San Francisco Giants. Abner enters the roster with a 6.75 ERA over 18 career major league appearances.
Curry, 28, has appeared in nine games for the Mets this season, posting a 5.48 ERA. Having previously pitched for the Guardians and Marlins, Curry is expected to enter free agency this winter. The Mets' pitching staff is currently transitioning toward younger prospects such as Nolan McLean, Christian Scott, Zac Thornton, and Jonah Tong, alongside veteran Sean Manaea.
