New York Rangers overhaul roster ahead of 2026 season

The New York Rangers finished last in the Metropolitan Division and missed the playoffs for the second straight year. General manager Chris Drury has used the offseason to retool the roster rather than rebuild, adding winger Pavel Dorofeyev, forward Oliver Bjorkstrand, defensemen Sean Durzi and Marcus Pettersson, forward Joe Veleno and goaltender Joonas Korpisalo, while trading veteran center Vincent Trocheck.

A key focus is getting forward J.T. Miller back to point‑per‑game form. Miller, who struggled to 53 points last season after a 100‑point spell with Vancouver, will be the second‑line centre and is expected to benefit from playing alongside new acquisitions such as Dorofeyev. The Rangers hope the influx of talent and a healthy Igor Shesterkin will lift them from the bottom of the conference.
