NHL Update: Predators defeat Stars and Islanders shut out Devils

Recent NHL action features several key matchups across the league. The Nashville Predators secured a 2-1 victory over the Dallas Stars, led by power-play goals from Steven Stamkos and Nils Hoglander, while Juuse Saros made 29 saves. The Stars, who had previously lost their season opener to St. Louis, fell to a 0-2 record.

In a Metropolitan Division matchup, the New York Islanders defeated the New Jersey Devils 6-0 in their home opener at UBS Arena. The Islanders' scoring was highlighted by Simon Holmstrom, Brayden Schenn, and Bo Horvat, who recorded his 100th goal as an Islander. Ilya Sorokin provided strong goaltending to secure the shutout.

Other scheduled and recent matchups include the Florida Panthers facing the Anaheim Ducks, and the Detroit Red Wings preparing for games against the New York Rangers and Winnipeg Jets. The Red Wings are entering their 101st season looking to end a long playoff drought.
