New York Rangers find early success with new forward line
The New York Rangers have secured two victories in their early 2026-27 season following a 3-0 loss to the Boston Bruins. The team defeated the Tampa Bay Lightning 5-1 in their home opener at Madison Square Garden and followed it with a 2-0 road win against the Detroit Red Wings.
A key factor in the team's recent success has been the performance of a new top-six forward line consisting of J. T. Miller, Oliver Bjorkstrand, and Pavel Dorofeyev. The trio has demonstrated strong underlying metrics, posting a 69.3% expected goal share and a 10-3 advantage in high-danger chances across the first three games.
Additionally, the Rangers have maintained strong special teams play. After failing to score on the power play in their opener, the team successfully converted on the man advantage in both subsequent victories. Goaltender Dylan Garand also contributed to the recent momentum by recording his first career shutout during the win against Detroit.
